Japan Still In Shock After Strong Earthquake

A strong earthquake of preliminary magnitude of 7.3 struck Sunday the northeast coast of Japan, causing a tsunami warning for several hours on the region made vulnerable since the earthquake and giant wave of deadly 'four months ago.

The coastal residents were asked to evacuate for nearly two hours after the tremor, but did not damage or casualties in the first place.

The quake occurred at 9:57 local time (0:57 GMT), and a tsunami warning has been launched. The epicenter was located in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Honshu, main island of the Japanese archipelago, about 30 km deep.

The tsunami warning was lifted after the arrival of an initial wave that did not exceed four inches.

March 11, the magnitude 9 earthquake, the largest recorded in the history of Japan, and the tsunami it caused left some 23,000 dead or missing, and triggered a nuclear crisis that has shaken the country. According to authorities, the central Fukushima in the heart of this crisis did not suffer more damage because the quake on Sunday.
